Plan to record confidential meetings put on pause

West Tamar Council has put a plan to capture audio of its confidential sessions on hold.

The proposal to record closed meetings had been put forward to ensure council has accurate and complete records of discussions that take place behind closed doors, rather than relying on written minutes from meetings.

But concerns have been raised about the security of the information and the potential for it to be leaked or accidentally posted to the council website.

The matter was deferred eight votes to one.
