Coast to host Tasmania v Queensland match

The North-West Coast has been chosen as one of five locations for interstate football matches featuring Tasmanian senior state sides.

The interstate series will feature a match at the Latrobe Recreation Ground, which has been the venue for the NWFL grand final since 1992, will host the men’s and women’s Tasmania-Queensland clash on July 5th.

Tasmania has beaten Queensland in the past two men’s matches, while the women are still looking for a win over the Northerners.

Other matches in the series will be played in the North and South of the state against state sides and senior teams from the VFL, AFLW and South Australian competitions.

The Tasmanian teams will be chosen from the state senior talent academy to provide elite competition for Tasmania ahead of the entry into the VFL in 2027 and the AFL in 2028.
