Deputy premier gives latest on LGH cooling problem

Tasmania’s deputy premier Guy Barnett has apologised to patients and staff at the Launceston General Hospital for the ongoing situation that’s confronted them on overheated wards.

The government is being pressured to come up with a long-term solution to the stifling conditions that unions have described as a threat to health and safety.

Guy Barnett has conceded the situation is unacceptable and given assurances changes will be made.

“The engineers will deliver a report into the matter next week,” he said.

“We will do whatever needs to be done based on those recommendations.

“It (the situation) is very disappointing and we great that, and apologise to those patients and staff.”
