Boy stable after airflight to hospital

A four-year-old boy is in a critical but stable condition after a traffic incident in Launceston on the weekend.

Police say the boy ran out into Franmaree Road at Newham around 6.30 on Saturday night when he was struck by a grey Suzuki vehicle.

He was taken to the Launceston General Hospital for initial treatment before being airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses or those with dash cam footage of the incident to come forward.
