No government money for rescued pups

There’ll be no extra state government funding to help with hundreds of rescued labradoodles from a puppy farm in the state’s north.

The government’s been questioned about the situation which Independent MP Kristie Johnston said is due to the state’s inadequate animal welfare laws.

Minister Jane Howlett has instead referred to an upcoming review to prevent overbreeding and close puppy farms.

The RSPCA recently received more than 300 thousand dollars in a community fundraising appeal to remove the dogs from the premises of Tasmanian Labradoodles at Epping Forest.
