Did you also expect a horror film when I said it was from the mind of Stephen Kind?
The Life of Chuck has been praised as a genre defining celebration of life, joy and existential wonder. Tom Hiddleston plays Chuck, and to be honest, I have very little idea on what this movie is genuinely about. Upon finding the films IMDB page I was able to locate its synopsis which says:
A life-affirming, genre-bending story based on Stephen King’s novella about three chapters in the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz.
Which still tells me nothing!
It wasn’t until finding the short story on Goodreads was I able to finally get some information on what the story is actually about, where the description of the book tells us:
“We see him in middle age on a business trip in Boston as he is seduced by a busker into spinning a gorgeous sidewalk dance. And we see him as a child, in a house haunted by a terrible secret, learning to dance with his grandmother.”
The film features an all-star cast of; Tom Hiddleston, Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jacob Tremblay, Matthew Lillard, and David Dastmalchian.
Catch The Life of Chuck when it releases in Australian cinemas on the 21st of August!
