It’s being reported in cinemas across the world that moviegoers are causing scenes during the newest kids film A Minecraft Movie. Even so far as several people being removed from the theatre all-together upon acting out.

Quite late into the film, Jack Black utters the phrase “Chicken Jockey”, and when the phrase is said in the film, many viewers are raising from their seats, screaming in excitement and throwing around popcorn and just generally being disruptive. Police have reportedly been called for complaints of vandalism and even some moviegoers bringing live chickens to the films viewing. It’s not even just the phrase “chicken jockey”, movie-goers are finding reasons to scream at the screen for any comical reason they can find. Almost in a satirical piss-take in the way people would scream during epic moments or character reveals in an Avengers movie or Star Wars film.

Look. I’m 26, I love going to the cinemas, it’s genuinely one of my favourite things to do is spend an evening going out the movies and making a night of it. Find dinner, catch a movie and have a good time. But if a room of teens, or heaven above adults, rose to their feet to scream at the screen every 5-minutes just for the sake of screaming I’d complain too. Opening-night Avengers movies and those huge pop culture events it’s unspoken law that people will cheer during those, and you accept that if you go opening day. But this is next level.

Now before I turn too much intro Grandpa Simpson of “old man yells at clouds”, if people are running back into cinemas for movies like this and supporting the industry that’s phenomenal and fantastic. Hell, I’m all for people having a good time and enjoying the movie and being vocal at times, but if you’re screaming at this level like that and going out of your way to ruin everyone else’s time that’s a no go for me.
